Why should I have a dog walker?

All dogs need some form of exercise and play, no matter their size or age. Our off leash adventure hikes allow for your pup to exercise, socialize AND do all their bathroom business while exploring the North Shore trails a.k.a dog heaven!

Whether your dog enjoys ripping through the woods solo or sniffing all their favourites spots with their pals it allows everyone to choose their own adventure. Off leash hiking not only allows your dog to get out some energy but they will also experience lots of stimulation through new smells and new friends.

A tired pup is a happy pup!

about

Hey, my name is Jessica Bailey but my friends call me Bails. I am the operator and top dog here at Tails and Bails: Dog Walking And Boarding in North Vancouver and West Vancouver. I have been an animal lover my entire life and a dog momma since I was young. In 2017 I was working as a professional dog walker and sitter in North Vancouver. I fell completely in love with the profession and was inspired to start my own business. I can not imagine spending my days any other way. I started Tails and Bails in London, Ontario in 2017 and worked with many fantastic furry friends. However the mountains were calling (again) and I missed hiking, running, and playing with dogs on the trails. I have now returned to North Vancouver to pursue my passion for hikes and happy pups. I look forward to meeting yours!

My favourite part of working with dogs outdoors daily is how much joy and happiness it brings them. It is hard to have a bad day when you have 6 dogs smiling (panting from running up a hill) up at you & having the best time from ripping around the forest with their friends.

Now in 2021 we are luckily to have many many dog friends and a small team of dog lovers who hit the trails daily.

Our objective is to provide your furry best friend with the exercise, social play and belly rubs that they need while you are away.

GEORGE (PRIVATE & GROUP WALKS)

Jess has cared for and walked my energetic sheltie, George, for over a year. George is always up to new tricks and admittedly not the best leash-walker but Jess was always up for the challenge and I completely trusted her while they were out. In the last few months she came to the house to walk him every day. She figured out ways to get George’s exercise in whether playing and walking with another neighbour dog or a trip to the off-leash park.

Jess is and was the most reliable walker I had (and I’ve had quite a few now!) and showed up in all types of weather! She was very professional and easy to communicate with. I know George misses her and so do we!

- Amberley (George’s Mom)

TAWNY (group hike)

"Jessica was one of the team that hiked my dog every weekday in the mountains of West Vancouver, BC for several years.  It’s clear to me that Jessica has a genuine love for her work – and dogs.  She is professional, courteous, upbeat and punctual, and took very good care of my Tawny, a husky/lab mix who can be a bit of a “wild child”, going off on her own solo adventures if not kept engaged, stimulated and moving.  I know this can be a challenge – even when hiking one-on-one – yet Jessica never had a problem and it was obvious that my dog loved her.

I never worried when Tawny was with Jessica, always trusting that she would gracefully handle any situation that arose.  On a recent late-summer hike, Tawny apparently got stung by a ground hornet (vicious things!) and seemed irritated (rubbing her face and not acting normal).  Jessica was prepared and gave Tawny a Benadryl (anti-histamine), monitored her for the rest of the hike, and left me a note reporting the incident, that Benadryl had been administered, and that Tawny seemed fine after the medication.  So professional and kind!

I highly recommend Jessica as a professional dog walker/hiker.  We’ll certainly miss her!"

- Rosie (Tawny's Mom)

O'MALLEY (group hike)

"Jessica has been walking O’Malley for over a year now. She is punctual and always has a friendly disposition (this is not an easy task with our wet Vancouver weather!) My dog loves going on his walks with her. He is always returned happy and clean.

I highly recommend Jessica to anybody who is in need of a dog walker. She will be missed here on the west coast!"

- Joyce (O'Malley's Mom)

KAYA (House sitting)

“We were lucky enough to find Jessica and have her dog sit at our house for about a week this past summer. Our dog Kaya loved the attention (and staying in our home!) and Jessica was really great about making sure she knew the ins and outs of her routine prior to us leaving. Kaya went on regular walks and I’m sure enjoyed the attention at night having her here. We had no concerns while away, Jessica took great care of the dog and as a bonus the house was really well taken care of - plants watered, cleaned up before she left, even did the sheets! Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her and her services!"

- Shannon (Kaya's Mom)
